We will take a look at the requirements for owning your own website from the point of view of a new business owner who has no knowledge on the subject.

Before you are able to take the plunge into building and running your own website you will need the following.

Choosing a name for your website and choosing a Domain Name
A hosting account with either your internet provider or a hosting company
Setting up your computer with the software you will need.
F.T.P details – File transfer details and a program to upload your website.
A downloaded copy of the content management system you have chosen.
A downloaded copy of wordpress.

This above list covers the basic items you will require. You find along the way that you would like to add or purchase additional items like a logo, but we will cover that in the next section.
